"Never Returned" (single)
“Never Returned” is the first single from the upcoming album ‘New Heaven, New Earth” by The Deconstructionists.
The Lancaster, Pa band plans to release the full album in the summer of 2020, however due to the current pandemic these plans are in a state of flux at the moment.
On the heels of their 2018 self-titled debut album, ‘New Heaven, New Earth” is largely focused on the religious experiences of lead singer/songwriter Chris Kauffman. Both the positive and negative experiences of growing up in conservative Lancaster county church culture are explored.
The first single is a simple song about relationships that take, without giving. A liberation song, the subject finally comes to realize the disfunction and one-sided-ness of the relationship.
Lyrics
He was the black hole; the singularity.
She was the satellite there for the view.
As her spaceship gave in to his gravity
the nearer she got the more time she did lose.
There's a sucking of life that's never returned.
A stealing of energy- taken, not earned.
There are days full of struggle, there are nights full of
doubt, there are times when you just want out.
Her back was bent over and sore to the hips
From holding upon it a table for two.
While he feasted upon it through ungrateful lips
She shook from the strain of the weight of the food.
Everything seems like a dream….
There are nights full of sleepless dreams, dreams full
of hurt. There are times when you can't understand a
word…
